Victoria Broytman

I am a professional artist passionate about painting and decorative art. I hold a degree from the Moscow Textile University where I studied painting, drawing and composition for more than five years. I arrived in Canada in 2009 and have lived and painted in North Toronto ever since.

Moving to Canada was a big life change and has provided fresh inspiration for my art! I enjoy looking at Toronto from different perspectives. Bright refractions of light in skyscrapers, the tranquil scenery of quieter areas, the rare combination of the old and the modern – Toronto's remarkable diversity inspires me to explore new shapes and ideas.

I enjoy working on expressionist art, especially floral motifs and still lives. As a professional textile designer, I have a strong command of ornamental patterns and ethnic styles. I also place great emphasis on the use of colour to create a unique mood. Whether inspired by New York or Los Angeles, Canadian nature, or abstract themes, each of my paintings evokes its own special atmosphere. For me, art is all about capturing a feeling, a momentary impression – and turning it into a visual memory that lasts a lifetime.
